The A.C.E.S. program is for identified gifted students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. Mr. Kenny Long and Mrs. Elizabeth Baer are the gifted teachers here at WNIS. ACES is a resource room where The ACES students leave their regular classroom one day a week to attend the gifted classroom. ACES is a unique program where your ACES students will alternate between the two teachers each quarter participating in a differentiated cooperative learning program consisting of high level thinking, hands-on learning, and real-world problem solving. Field trips are also part of the curriculum in ACES. In addition, fifth grade A.C.E.S. students have the opportunity to attend Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama during the month of November. This is a much anticipated event for our fifth graders. If you have questions about the ACES program and what to look for in your student, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher or Mr. Long or Mrs. Baer. If you or a teacher feels your student may qualify for the gifted program, see our guidance counselor, Jan Speed.
