Welcome Bright Minds. My name is Mrs. Brummer and I am so excited that you will be in my 4th grade class this year! This is my sixth year teaching 4th grade at West Navarre Intermediate. Before that, I taught for three years in Beaufort South Carolina. Two of those years, I spent teaching music to preschool through 8th grade. I wasn’t always a teacher though. I graduated college with a Bachelors degree in Mass Communication and Journalism and spent 15 years as a writer! However, I always wanted to be a teacher, so once my youngest was in kindergarten, I went back to receive my Masters in Elementary Education.
You will hear me talk about my kids often – Chloe is a junior in college, Allie is a senior in high school and Drew is a freshman. I also have two dogs – Molly the pug and Maggie the bulldog. When I am not at work I like to read, ride my bike, go the beach, golf, go to the movies, spend time with my family and give my doggies lots of love!
One interesting fact about me is that I grew up on a lake in Iowa – not on a farm and no pigs! My husband recently retired from the Navy, which gave my family the opportunity to live in a lot of awesome places across the United States, including California, Colorado, Nebraska, Tennessee, South Carolina and Florida. Although all of these places were really cool, my favorite place is right here in Florida.
I can’t wait to meet all of you and get to know your “story”. We are going to have a fantastic year!!!!!
